Part 2: feel like a celebrity at O Solar dos Presuntos

After breakfast, let’s continue this Lisbon food series with a very famous — and very busy — restaurant: O Solar dos Presuntos. In every major city, there seems to be a restaurant decorated with photographs of celebrities posing with the owner! In Lisbon, that place is O Solar dos Presuntos! People have been coming here for decades. We went for lunch on a Wednesday without a booking and got the very last table! Before getting into the review, there’s something important to know about restaurants in Portugal. Once you sit down, the waiters often bring a selection of petiscos — Portuguese tapas — such as ham, cheese and olives. If you eat them, you’ll be charged. If you leave them untouched, they’ll be taken away. Solar-dos-Presuntos-Ham1 Back to the restaurant: the menu is entirely Portuguese, with all the traditional dishes to try. I particularly recommend the black rice with octopus. It’s delicious — the best I’ve ever eaten. It’s a noisy place, but that adds to its authenticity: local retirees come here for lunch. The seafood selection is fantastic. If you enjoy lobster, crab or langoustines, you’ll be in heaven. img-796x5602017-02-17-16-57-00-379121 The restaurant is also well known for business lunches. Business guests always appreciate an invitation and the opportunity to enjoy a private space. It’s just a short walk from Avenida da Liberdade — Lisbon’s answer to the Champs-Élysées — and close to major investment banks and prestigious law firms. http://www.solardospresuntos.com

[…] Nicolau is the coolest place in Lisbon for breakfast. I recommend following them on Instagram. The atmosphere is wonderfully relaxed, with a groovy soundtrack. There’s no room for stress in this little corner of paradise. Breakfast is served all day, and brunch isn’t reserved for Sundays. The menu is full of surprises, from açaí bowls with fresh fruit and homemade granola to perfectly cooked eggs Benedict and, above all, the red velvet pancakes! The photos below speak for themselves. http://www.ilovenicolau.com Read the next part HERE […]
